What the Flock?!?

Flock is a free web browser that makes it easier than ever to share photos, stay up-to-date with news from your favorite sites, and search the Web

Flock — The web browser for you and your friends
I installed Flock Beta 1 (Version 0.7) on my machine at home a few days ago, but didn't really know what to do with it, appart from surfing the web. I was hoping that it would all become apparent very quickly.

Dealing with Comment and Trackback Spam

Comment spam in blogs seems to becoming a major issue. Recently, even some of my favourite blog authors Jesper Johansson, Steve Lamb and Steve Riley have been commenting on how they have been getting far too much spam via the comment features in their blogs.

Windows Vista Security Advancements

I was just catching up on Michael Howard's blog to find that he had posted a link to a very nice white paper that outlines the security enhancements in Microsoft's upcoming Windows Vista operating system. Well worth having a look at.

Privacy breaches - What do they cost?

I just came across this Privacy Breach Impact Calculator. In this tool, Rebecca Herold, CISSP, CISM, has put together the main factors that impact an organisation when faced with a privacy breach. Although this is only an estimate, it clearly shows why such events are often underestimated and have been known to force whole organistaions out of business.Take a look. You'll be suprised at what this all adds up to.

Trackbacks are back!

Finally. The Drupal Trackback module has been released for Drupal 4.7 and I have now incorporated it into the site. This means that you can now add trackbacks to any one of the blog postings on the site. Luckily, the trackback module integrates directly with the spam module, thus preventing "malicious" or "inappropriate" usage of this feature. Within the last 24 hours, over fifty attempts at trackback spam were deleted from the site.
Trackbacks allow us to build a network of more closely related sites which link to each other. Please give it a try.
